glaciers
Do you have ghosts, calendar ghosts – ones that normally don’t haunt you, save for on a particular day?
Some people come plowing into and out of your life like a fast-moving glacier, leaving moraines and tarns when they’re gone. You know these landscapes, don’t you? Brutal forces formed the hills and lakes that look so peaceful and beautiful now that they’ve been papered over with grass and trees and little flowers, eons later.
He left boulders as he retreated. Some of them are useful. Some of them get in my way. I’ve planted flowers where I can. Regardless, I would do it all over again. Eagerly.
